Contemporary Dance 5-Day Workshops

South Tipperary County Council Arts Service in partnership with Cashel Arts Fest is hosting a 5-day dance workshop leading to a performance on Sunday 22nd November. Participants will work with professional dancers Jazmin Chiodi (Argentina) and Alexandre Iseli (Switzerland). They will produce their own group dance piece and this will be performed alongside a work by Iseli-Chiodi Dance Company entitled “Me seeing You”.

Workshops are open to young people 13-20 years old. No dance experience is necessary but attendance at the five workshops is essential. The workshops will include warm-up exercises, games, experimentation around dance phrases and improvisation. Students will be encouraged to create dance work of their own.

Jazmin Chiodi and Alexandre Iseli are the Dancers in residence with South Tipperary County Council and Tipperary Excel Arts Centre.

Places are limited so booking is essential.

Fun Art Workshops

Children will have the opportunity to create works of art in a new context with an experienced facilitator, Ruth Mulhern. Ruth has worked formerly as an outreach tutor at the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin and subsequently as Curator of Education and Access at the Hunt Museum, Limerick.

Creepy Crawlies (3-6 year olds)

A familiar story, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, will be used as a springboard for an exploration of print and paper construction. This workshop involves cutting, paper chains, and printing with poster paint. Learners will create a caterpillar and butterfly to tell their family the story of the caterpillar.

All about Me (7-10 year olds)

A fun, multidisciplinary workshop where participants use more than one medium to represent their own image. They will use artists air-drying modeling clay and paint to create a ‘gingerbread man’ sized clay relief. The learners will discuss colour and clothing, facial features and the body as well as personality traits. They will also look at self-portraits of some great artists.

Time 10.30-11.45am (3-6 year olds)
2.00-3.15am (7-10 year olds)
Venue O’Brien’s Cashel Lodge

About Us
Cashel Arts Festival is a 10 day festival of music, dance, visual art, theatre, comedy, talks, poetry, street performance, family and children's events.

Now in its seventh year, Cashel Arts Festival provides opportunities for all sections of the community to engage with a variety of art disciplines in an enjoyable and meaningful way.

The small voluntary committee work hard year round to bring an exciting and varied programme of events to Cashel each November.

Cashel Arts Fest 2009 has been a great success. We've marvelled at the talent of the young exhibitors in the Council Chambers, listened to the wonderful sounds of Anuna and the Cairde String Quartet, laughed with David O'Dohery and been thoroughly entertained by Wonderland Productions La Locandiera.

Thank you to all of you who took part, volunteered and helped during the festival. We're looking forward to Feile Fidelma 10th-12th September 2010 and are busy planning Cashel Arts Fest 2010!
