Where do writers get their ideas from? And once they have them, how do they shape them into something that works on the page? How do they develop characters, think up plot twists, and add interesting details? Teenagers who are interested in writing will get the chance to explore these questions and more in a workshop facilitated by Claire Hennessy, author of nine novels for teenagers and a teacher of creative writing workshops. Claire was first published as a teenager – though she’s now a decrepit 20something – and is a firm believer that it’s never too early to begin figuring out how to translate all the fragments and snippets in your brain into a compelling story!

John Cash is a great believer in getting your image right before you press the shutter, rather than spending a lot of time afterwards trying to put things right.
The workshop will cater for beginners to reasonably competent people and will (weather permitting) include going into the field to create images together. John will get you making the decisions rather than your camera making the decisions for you.

Casting is a manufacturing process by which a liquid material is poured into a mould containing a hollow cavity of the desired shape. The liquid is then allowed to solidify. This successful method achieves beautiful shapes. During the workshop students will learn to explore and appreciate shapes in 3D, to make a two piece plaster mould and to cast their explored shape.
